Smal octavo. 204pp + 4pp publisher's advertisements. Frontispiece of the author's mother (with tissue guard), about whom the book was written. Bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe in beautiful full burgundy calf with gilt decoration and lettering; original green cloth covers & spine bound in a rear. Decorative owner bookplate of George H.Yenowine (1857-1901), one of the best-known newspaper men of Wisconsin. A near fine copy (minor rubbing to corners, spine ends & spine; light foxing to first two pages). The author's biographical book about his mother and family life in Scotland. According to The Bookman, it was the 7th bestselling book of 1897 in the United States. The book was written in tribute to Barrie's mother and includes family reminiscences. Barrie recounts his mother telling tales of her childhood, and credits her with inspiring his interest in literature. - wiki.
