Harper & Brothers, Publishers, New York, 1849. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/None Issued. The is the First American Edition. Size: 12mo. This is a mixed set of the First American Edition with Volume I being three quarters gilt stamped leather and black pebbled cloth over boards, and the second volume green gilt stamped and blind stamped cloth over boards. Volume I has marbled end papers, XII, 13-365pages; Volume II has yellow glossy end papers, XII, 9-387 pages, 8 pages advertisements. Leather along side of spine of Volume I is worn, pages lightly toned; otherwise interior is clean with no writing, marks or foxing, and the binding is sound. Volume II is bumped with some wear at head of the spine, foxing on end papers, interior pages lightly toned; otherwise, interior is clean with no writing, marks or foxing, and the binding is sound.
