Boston: Hale, Cushman & Flint, 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. Some loss of gilt to covers. Near Fine in a tape-repaired, Near Fine dustwrapper. Stories and recollections of 60+ years in the music business and basis for the 1953 Clifton Webb movie of Sousa's life. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the composer on the front endpaper: "To/Eugene Hazard,/There never lived a/better mother than/yours, so may God/bless you both./from/John Philip Sousa/1928." Among his best-known marches are "The Stars and Stripes Forever" (National March of the United States of America), "Semper Fidelis" (Official March of the United States Marine Corps), and "The Liberty Bell" (used as the theme for Monty Python's Flying Circus).
