About This Item
New York: Fleming H. Revell Company, 1886. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Dark green blind-embossed cloth with gilt spine lettering. 322pp. Very good. Text block moderately age toned as usual. A tight and attractive later printing, exceptionally nice, of this early title by the popular, prolific Presbyterian pastor (1837-1911), which like many inspirational texts of this era attempted to confront Darwinism with "scientific" proof of the Bible's validity. Front flyleaf bears a non-authorial gift inscription from the well-known Baptist pastor from Indiana, J. Frederick Rake (1878-1962): "'That thy faith / fail not' is the / purpose of this gift / J. Frederick Rake / Dec 25th, 1918."
