Albany: Weed, Parsons and Company, Printers, 1873. 473p., illustrated with tables only, the original textbock recently re-cased in quarter polished calf (leather backstrip and corner-tips) over marbled paper, with facsimile label titled in bronze. A good-looking job externally, but a little awkward to handle due to stiffness in the new hinges (and from within, the ragged hinge-gaps look crude). Titlepage is somewhat marred with a news-clip remnant tipped on at the top that obscures first words of title (detached clipping, relevant, is now laid in ). We found the chronology unexpectedly vivid (marshes drained; lunatic asylum supplied; steam towage to encourage). A good reading / reference copy.
