The first edition of this selection, and the first with these magnificent Reynolds Stone engravings. 4to. 94pp. One of 300 copies (out of a total edition of 350) designed by Will Carter, printed on Basingwerk parchment, bound in buckram and signed by Reynolds Stone. Stone contributes a title page decoration, five wood engraved plates and a small closing vignette; plus a small gilt decoration to upper board. Buckram just fractionally marked in one or two places, else a fine copy. No dust wrapper, as issued. Twenty-three poems (including the eleven-parter 'Flying Scrolls'), six of which are hitherto unprinted with several others making their first bookform appearance..

First edition - the uncommon first state, which was subsequently withdrawn and pulped; this copy seemingly the publisher's file copy, with that text lightly inkstamped to the front free endpaper. 8vo. 66pp. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine. A fine copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, just slightly faded at spine panel and at the head of the upper panel, and with a small sliver of staining to the lower edge. Thirty Betjeman poems accompanied by a Piper frontispiece and seventeen line drawings, several of them full-page. Printing errors impacting the poems 'Bristol and Clifton' and 'Sunday Afternoon in St. Enodoc Church, Cornwall' necessitated a complete recall and a corrected edition was published the following year. First Edition (first printing) of the author's second book. 8vo. 106pp. Black vertical weave cloth, lettered in gold at the spine and upper board with a blind-stamped border. Portrait frontispiece of the author (from a sketch by Wyndham Lewis). A hint of fading to the backstrip, and just a touch of bruising to the spine ends. Half-title spotted, with a touch of further very light spotting to the title page and two blank rear flyleaves. Very good indeed, albeit lacking the most uncommon dust wrapper. New York: Random House, 1969. First Edition, First Printing. INSCRIBED on a preliminary page by Clarence Major, one of the authors featured in this anthology: "to Bert / good luck! / Clarence Major." An anthology featuring works by 72 poets, most of them Black or people of color. Besides Major, poets include Julian Bond, Victor Hernández Cruz, David Henderson, Calvin Hernton, Marvin Jackman, Bob Kaufman, Ishmael Reed, Sonia Sanchez, and Gloria and Stephen Tropp. Lengthy prologue by the editor, Walter Lowenfels. (For the full list, please see the second photo.) Clarence Major (b. 1936), who inscribed this book, has written more than a dozen collections of poetry. He is a distinguished professor emeritus of 20th-century American literature at the University of California, Davis. This is a review copy, with the Random House notice laid in. Evelyn Scott (1893–1963) was an American novelist, playwright and poet, who also wrote under the pseudonyms Ernest Souza and Elsie Dunn. This book "Precipitations" was her first book. .
