HEINEMANN, 1896. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. The first British edition, published three years after the very scarce 1893 edition and the same year as the first revised American edition published by Appleton. A very good plus copy.

Synopsis

As the children grow up, Maggie attempts to better herself, but is defeated by her desperate surrounds and the poverty of humanity surrounding her.
