Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Foxing more noticeable towards the start and end of the book. Pencil inscriptions to front endpaper and rear pastedown. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall. Boards are very bowed. Spine is slightly sunned. Book has a moderate forward lean.

Internally there is foxing to endpapers else clean, tight and unmarked. Uniform with publisher's Ancient Classics for English Readers - Supplementary Series. The author is William Hurrell Mallock (1849-1923) an English author famed for his satirical work 'The New Repubic'. The prose translations from Lucretius are taken in the main, with but very slight alterations, from the version of Mr. Munro, whilst the verse translations are the author's. **** NOT EX LIB **** B2D.
