About This Item

London, United Kingdom: Victor Gollancz, 1953. This is the first edition and first printing of a classic Kingsley Amis novel. Overall the book is in fair to good condition. Corners are somewhat bumped, more so to top corner of front board. Ex W.H. Smith lending library copy with their bookplates neatly pasted in to front fixed endpaper. Ex libris bookplate of Patrick Downing to ffep neatly pasted in. Slight lean to spine. Title lettering has faded somewhat but is still readable. Some small superficial marks to binding as can be seen in attached photographs. Spine cloth is slightly faded and spine tips softened. Top edge of pages is somewhat dusty as can be expected. Slight separation between ffep and title pages but still holding well. All pages are present and correct and the book is still well bound. Very little evidence of any foxing, so clean and well preserved internally. TO SUMMARISE............. THIS IS A PRETTY DECENT COPY OF A BOOK THAT IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY RARE TO FIND IN THE FIRST PRINTING AND CAN COST SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF POUNDS IN VERY GOOD OR BETTER CONDITION, MORESO WHEN COMPLETE WITH THE DUSTWRAPPER. First Edition. Fair to Good/No Jacket. FIRST IMPRESSION.
