Born in New Orleans in 1909, author Robert Tallant worked as editor on the Louisiana WPA Writers Project during the 1930s and 1940s. He wrote both fiction and nonfiction, including two titles in the young reader's Landmark series. This book is a sequel to Mrs. Candy and Saturday Night, and is also set in Crescent City, Louisiana. The publisher's blurb reads: ''Romance temporarily comes a cropper, but Mrs Candy, undaunted and unaided, manages to unsnarl some pretty tangled love knots in this hilarious sequel.''
