About This Item

New York: HarperCollins, 1996. First Edition. . Hardcover. Near Fine/Issued Without Jacket. An advance review copy from uncorrected proofs of this late work of Nobel Prize-winner Lessing. It is the story of a 65-year-old Englishwoman who falls in love, one after another, with two much younger men. It is an exploration of romantic love, sexuality and, as well, grief. First printing, First U.S. Edition, about 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches, 352 pages quarter bound in black cloth over black paper-covered boards with title in gold on front cover and gold lettering on spine. No dustjacket; housed in diecut, pictorial slipcase. Spine ends show some light rubbing and bumping and single, very light scratch near lower end, o/w boards and text are complete, clean and unmarked, no other flaws. Slipcase shows only minor wear at corners. Overall, a very decent copy.
