About This Item

New York: Roy Publishers, 1956. Gilt motif to front and gilt title to spine on red cloth boards which are very clean, unmarked with no wear. Internally there is an indentation mark left by a paper clip to front endpaper else very clean and unmarked. Dustjacket is chipped but complete G+. Not dated but probably 1956 as the British edition was 1956. Marie Mancini, Princess de Colonna was one of five famous sisters and the favourite of Louis. 10 Illustrations. The not well known story of the King's five years of being in love with Marie Mancini, the niece of Cardinal Mazarin with whom he had been brought up and who he hoped to marry. However the King's mother was determined that he should marry her niece, the Infanta of Spain, which he did. A1B. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
