This novel however, uses a different style of writing in that the book is split into two different halves in an attempt to unite the saga from Book 2, bringing back into play and continuing the story about the main character of the series, John Grey from Book 1. In effect, the second half will restart the adventures of this character so the series may continue on its natural course to the end. In the meanwhile, you will read about a cunning and ruthless man who will hopefully epitomise the dangerous underhand dealings of a certain German WW2 organisation that functioned in the ranks of the Nazi regime, which even the German's dreaded and feared their presence. That organisation was none other than the most dreaded outfit, and I refer to the shortened and the more familiar name as regiven to the 'GESTAPO' and their lackeys the SS. Not even their own regular military forces could escape from them let alone any Allied personnel captured during the course of discharging their wartime duties. As for the overall story of two halves, it's about the activities and eventual loss of a famous legendary German military unit, the IX Legion that was last seen in the sands of the Sahara duringWW2, and the subsequent attempts to find it. The spur to it all however, is the small matter of several hundred tons of missing Nazi gold that needed to be found, as part of Germany's secret 'gold deposits', earmarked by them to pay the Arab nations for the oil that was needed to fund their so called 7000years of the THIRD REICH.
