Bill Talbitzer, Oroville, CA, 1963; First Edition; 8 1/2" x 11", 56 pages; illustrated. Collected histories of the many legendary historic sites lost forever beneath the waters of the Feather River by the filling of Oroville Dam in 1967. Privately published by the author prior to the dam’s completion for purposes of preserving Oroville history and to encourage further research on the subject. Included are the stories of Bidwell Bar, Major Frank McLaughlan’s Wall, Cherokee Diggings, Adamstown, Dredgerville, and Albert Risberg’s Saloon, plus individuals such as Jim Swanson, General John Bidwell, Sam Norris, Jim Beckworth, Jack Stoddard, Sarah Benson, and Dick Stuart. Generously illustrated with both historic and contemporary photographs in black and white. Fine, in color illustrated wraps.
