The almanac's calendar records the times of sunrise and sunset, as well as various saints' days and term times for academic institutions. The volume also provides a table of the reigns of the kings and queens of England and Great Britain, from William the Conqueror to George III, a list of Lord Mayors and Sheriffs from 1773 to 1794, a list of bank holidays, conversion rates for various coinage, and the dates of the year's eclipses. Bound in green leather with a design worked in plain onlays, red linework, and gilt stamping. Housed in matching slipcase. Both show some generic rubbing and expected loss of exterior red, else near fine. A.e.g. (2 5/16 by 1 5/16; 58x34mm).

Light crease at the spine of the front cover. ; A humorous tale of a crow or raven who successively, page after page, drinks and drains numerous glasses of spirits until its view of the world blurs, it stands, then falls on its back. Told wordlessly, with drawings only, and the story line is obvious. The stylized head and beak of the bird reoccur in Steinlen's book illustrations of crows and vultures. Swiss-born, creative polymath Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923) was painter, fabric designer, sculptor, periodical publisher, printmaker, and illustrator.
