INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the half-title page , "Caroline--dear-I hope Liza Jane and the Kinkies will bring you some of the happiness they have brought--me!/ With love/ Mary Phipps/ November 16, 1929" and with a drawing of Liza Jane. Oversized hardcover in yellow and checkerboard paper covered boards with drawings of the title chracters. Illustrated endpapers. Illustrated with bold red and black drawings by the author throughout. The rhyming story of Miss Liza Jane , a little African American girl from the South, daughter of Rastus and Mandy who worked in "The Big House" and the little, mischevious fairy-like creatures called Kinks. Good, some soiling to the covers and wear about the edges and tips.
