The focus of the Talmud is on the Law, its study and its practice. The text of this book is divided into its traditional paragraphs, or Mishnayot, and each paragraph, or Mishna, is followed by relevant selections from the classical commentators, whose names are given in parentheses, in abbreviated form, at the end of each comment. The hebrew is that of the original text for each Mishna. Biblical quotations appear throughout in italics.
