This present unabridged limited edition was published by advance reservation exclusively for subscribers to The Easton Press collection of The Greatest Books Ever Written." The illustrations for this edition were done by artist Henry C. Pitz. He made twelve full-page and two double spead line-and-wash drawings, in addition to many in-text line drawings. For the frontispiece of this Easton Press edition, he painted a portrait of the author. The fifteen large illustrations have been printed in three colors, producing an exact match for the artist's subtle brushwork. The book designer Bert Clarke used in the main text eleven-point Walbaum type - named after the German typefounder Johann Walbaum - on cream-white wove stock paper. The binding is in high-quality leather, stamped in genuine gold leaf with an exclusive design that will never be used again. All edges gilt. Spine hubbed with raised horizonal bands. Morire' fabric end-papers. Satin ribbon page marker. 428 numbered pages. There are a few soiled specks on the rear pane a small dent on the front upper extremity, light scuffing at the corners, and a small/short tear at the rear lower corner - otherwise, the book is clean and unmarked and tightly bound.
