Features a collection of Laura Ingalls Wilder's rediscovered writings, 90 percent of which had never before been published in book form. Her topics are varied as she talks about the changes motor cars and highways brought to her sleepy town of Mansfield, Missouri. She emphasizes the need to conserve the forests and woodlands. She talks at length about women--their voice in politics, their involvement in the work force, and other issues pertinent to women's roles in the early 1900's..
