Contains the original American printing of the novel Little Dorrit, which first appeared in book form in Britain in 1857. The British serial release began in December 1855, a month before the present series started. The illustrations here are unsigned but they appear to be the work of Phiz (Hablot Browne). Also in this Harper's volume is a short article by Dickens called "A Nightly Scene in London," and a two part description of Commodore Perry's visit to Japan and China.Condition of this book:Both joints cracked, losses at spine ends, extremities rubbed, interior very good but with a musty odor that likely will fade with dry storage, images fine.
