New York: Farrar, Straus and Company, 1950. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good Plus/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Stefan Salter (design). Wilson's first piece of imaginative writing after his "Memoirs of Hecate County", this play takes place in a "country house about an hour and a half from New York", set in a "not-remote-future" of around 1960. 163 pages. CONDITION: The book itself is bright, tight, square, and unmarked, with light cover wear at the corners and spine ends. The interior is near-pristine, but for some age-discoloration on the paste-downs. Its dust-jacket - now in a clear mylar (removable) protective cover - fares less well, regrettably, showing considerable wear and discoloration, a price-clipped/repriced front flap, and substantial missing pieces at the top and bottom of the back cover and rear flap, compromising their respective texts (see back cover scan image). This nevertheless remains a quite respectable copy - at an excellent price. [NOTE: The cloudiness in the front cover scan is primarily due to scanner glare on the mylar dustjacket cover.]
