Madison: Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, 1924. Good condition. SEE PHOTOS. Enclosed in a pocket at the rear is a beautiful, full-color GEOLOGIC MAP OF WISCONSIN SHOWING LOCATIONS FROM WHICH SAMPLES OF LIMESTONE, DOLOMITE, MARL, SHALE OR CLAY WERE ANALYZED (Revised 1924 by E. F. Bean). The map is impressive, printed in at least 12 colors, and measures 22" wide by 24" tall when unfolded. The map is in perfect condition, having been sealed in the original pocket until removed by us to write this description. Suitable for framing. SEE PHOTO. Bound in the original green cloth, stamped in shiny gold on the spine. Cover soiled and frayed at the top edge. Light marginal stain at the top of several pages, not affecting any text. NOT a library discard. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. Illustrated with 6 plates, 19 figures, and 5 tables. Bulletin No. 66. This book is from the library of scientist and author Robert B. Sosman, with his tiny ink stamp on flyleaf. Sosman was Assistant Director of the Geo-Physical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution. Later he was Assistant Director of Research of the United States Steel Corporation and Visiting Professor of Ceramics at Rutgers University.. First Edition. Hardcover.
