Lignum nephriticum Smithsonian Institution Washington, D.C. 1916 9 x 5 3/4", pp. 271-298, Based upon a paper entitled "The Rediscovery of Lignum nephriticum," read by the author Feb. 2, 1915, at a meeting of, Botanical Soc. of Washington. Published by authority of the Secretary of Agriculture. Lignum nephriticum, remarkable for the fluorescent properties of its infusion, comes from two sources, one, a shrub in Mexcio and the other, a tree in the Philippines. In the 17th century it was commonly made into cups by the natives of southern Luzon.
