The Lifetime Reading Plan

by Fadiman, Clifton

Condition: Good +/Fair

Cleveland: World Publishing, 1960. Book. Good +. Cloth. BOMC.. 250 pp., plus 68-pp. bibliography & reading list. Jacket chipped and torn, rear flap laid in. Light fading of spine titling. Remains of book plate on front endpaper. Text clean. NOT a set of reading orders, but, rather a collection of 100 brief appreciations explaining why the authors and their major works are worth reading. Fadiman also provides context for the authors and shows why their work is still considered important long after their deaths. His overview, written in short, pithy sentences, spans from Homer to moderns such as Aldous Huxley, Ernest Hemingway and Robert Frost. Valuable for helping a reader to select a few "important" books to supplement the mind candy of detective yarns, romances, political exposes and self-improvement manuals. Size: 8vo -- -- 8.25 in..
