About This Item

London: HarperCollins, 1995. Bound in the publishers black hardcover with gilt title lettering to spine this is the first impression of the first edition of Alan Sillitoes excellent autobiography. Of particular note is anyone interested in the writers upbringing and his formative years in Nottingham, his birthplace, which is recalled here with great clarity and poignancy. The 274 pages remain in fresh, clean condition with no inscriptions and are tightly bound. Book sits solid and square. Housed in the near fine dustwrapper with publishers printed price intact on front inside flap. Light signs of handling otherwise dustwrapper remains very presentable. Photograph of Alan Sillitoe as a young man to the front panel. Protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. Photographs of the book and the dustwrapper are available on request. A very tidy copy of the autobiography of the early years of one of the greatest English writers of the twentieth century. The Rare Book Shelf carries a select stock of Alan Sillitoe first edition titles.. First Edition. Near Fine/Near Fine.
