A Life Of Picasso: 1907 - 1917: The Painter Of Modern Life

by RICHARDSON, JOHN

Condition: Softcover. Very good condition

Pimlico, London: 1997. Softcover. Very good condition. Draws on the same combination of lively writing, critical astuteness, exhaustive research, and personal experience which made a bestseller out of the first volume and vividly recreates the artist's life and work during the crucial decade of 1907 - 1917 - a period during which Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque invented cubism and to that extent engendered modernism. Includes an Index.

John Richardson is the author of a memoir, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice; an essay collection, Sacred Monsters, Sacred Masters; and books on Manet and Braque. He has written for The New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, and Vanity Fair . He was instrumental in setting up Christie’s in the United States. In 1993 he was made a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy. In 1995–96 he served as the Slade Professor of Fine Art at Oxford University. He divides his time between Connecticut and New York City.
