Very helpful in seeing the Reformation in Scotland, France and England. John Knox was very influential and turned Scotland upside-down singlehandedly. This particular antique volume for sale is considered the 'new edition,' a "Large Type Edition" (though not in a true sense large type), was issued without the foot and appendix notes which were in Latin. It was first published in two volumes 1811. This rather well-preserved antique hardback volume is Good+ and would be Very Good except the Title page is separated/loose. Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Clean pages with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pencil and pen markings to front free endpaper. Ownership plate stuck to front free endpaper with some paper remnants. Cracking to gutters causing binding to be loose, however pages remain attached. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Visible wear marks to boards. Book is bowed and forward leaning.
