Much wear to tips, corners and edges of the book, glass ring and loss of color to a small area (3 x 6.5 in.) of the front cover, damstaining of front and rear endpapers, scattered foxing. Irish born Mackenzie (1809-1880) worked as newspaper man following a medical education. Starting with English newspapers he emigrated to America in 1852 becoming the literary editior of the Philadelphia Press. Most items ship with tracking numbers and (generally over $15.00) jacket protectors if applicable. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible.

Variant blue cloth with gilt spine. No previous ownership marks. Boards are clean, gilt is bright and text is unmarked. Binding shows light wear to tips and very top of spine shaved. Tissue guard at frontispiece heavily foxed, albeit portrait is clean and title-page shows only one small spot. No underlining or marginalia. A very good copy. Podeshi H307.. First Edition. Hardcover.
