Hardback. 494pp with Frontis. containing facsimiles of the handwritting of Melville, and some of the principle persons referred to, plus an appendix, consisting of original papers. Some browning to edges of prelim pages. Small attractive owners label on front pastedown. Very nice golden calf leather covers with gilt decoration on spine although spine labels are missing. Slight crack on front hinge but boards well attached. A very nice copy with very attractive binding and clean , fresh pages. Hard to find edition. .
