About This Item
New York: Bobbs-Merrill Company, Inc., 1979. Book Club (BCE/BOMC). . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. This is Styron's ("Sophie's Choice," "The Confessions of Nat Turner") first novel and, by most any measurement, a great work in its own right. Originally issued in 1951, it is the story of the Loftis family of Virginia, divided and dysfunctional, and of two generations tragic loss of faith and love. The top edge of text very slightly soiled, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The dustjacket shows just a touch of edgewear, in excellent condition, given its age.
