John Murray, London., 1849. New edition of a book originally published in 1841. Octavo. pp viii, 160. Double-column text. Period school prize binding of polished tan calf with raised bands, gilt decoration to spine, marbled endpapers and edges. On the front pastedown is the engraved prize label of University College School whose gilt emblem is on the front and rear covers. The author, who is better known as an art historian and critic, travelled to Russia and Estonia to visit her married sister.Skilfully rebacked with original spine relaid. Some light foxing to prelims. Very good.
