Internally very good subject to moderate browning and dustiness and a few small stains to the title page (couple mirrored on inside front cover) . Binding firm. Cover is somewhat shelfworn and a little scuffed with a small stain; the Claud Fraser design on the front cover is reasonably bright.

This is a remarkable version, printed on thick glossy imitation parchment paper, with extensive commentary and an incredible gallery of vintage illustrations. This massive set will require extra postage.

Double gilt ruled lines on the morocco edges bordering blue cloth panels on the boards. Marbled endpapers with a strip of plain paper to both inner hinges where the book has been professionally re-cased. Top edge gilt. Some rubbing to the edges of the binding. A beautifully produced edition in the arts and crafts style of the period, in a skilfully repaired but very good quality and still attractive early leather binding.

One of 1000 copies, this number 855, printed eleven point Riccardi fount, on handmade Riccardi paper. A fine and clean copy in a fine recent leather binding of full navy blue Morocco. Spine with two raised bands, the compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. A fine copy of this well printed volume in the Riccardi Press booklets series.

John Murray. London. + For the Booksellers. London. 1827 and 1826. EIGHT VOLUMES. 8vo. (6.5 x 4.2 inches). Six volumes of The Works, dated 1827, and two volumes of Don Juan, dated 1826. All uniformly bound in attractive fine early leather bindings of full red straight grained morocco. Spines with four raised bands, each with gilt ruling. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Gilt decorative borders on boards, with four blind stamped ruled lines inside the panel. Turn-ins with floral gilt roll. Board edges with gilt tooling to corners. All edges gilt. Neat previous owner bookplates on front paste downs. One gathering slightly sprung in volume one. Some light spotting to a few pages in each volume, but generally a clean set. Spine of volume three is a bit faded and worn and a bit of rubbing to the extremities of the other volumes but overall a very good and beautifully bound set.

Finely bound in a contemporary full dark green morocco binding by Ramage of London. Spine with five raised bands, ruled in gilt. The compartments with gilt ruled lines, flower and star designs and lettering. Decorative flower and leaf designs to both boards, within a wavy line border which is surrounded by multiple stars, within a ruled line border, all in gilt. Elaborate gilt tooled stars, flowers and decorative roll borders to the inner boards with off-white moire silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owners neat inscription, dated 1914, to the front blank free endpaper. Spine faded to an attractive tan colour and the front board to a lighter green but still a beautiful fine binding from the library of W. A.
