Nuremberg: Peter Conrad Monath, 1730. Octavo. 17, 1120, 320. Very rare. Only two recorded copies of the Morl edition (Erlangen, Nuremberg); none on OCLC. Second corrected edition. Introduction by Gustav Philipp Morl (1673-1750), Doring notes in The Learned Theologians of Germany in the 18th and 19th Centuries was important both for his studies in Descartes as well as Confessional Theology. In the four page introduction he notes that Nuremberg is fortunate in this time. There is a pastedown of showing Jesus examining the 10 Commandments (though the fifth apparently is missing from the tables) and below is a panorama of the city. The other endpaper has a full page of Professor Morl (the same as in the NYPL digital collection of famous personages). The following preliminaries list the entire Augsburg Confession (it was the 200 anniversary of its first appearance). Mild bit of edgewear; some slightly irregular and closely trimmed pages. Tight, lovely copy of this American Tom Thumb Bible, a popular category of miniature book in the early 19th century. This is a later printing of the edition that W. & J. Bolles first brought out around 1831. The woodcut illustrations are charmingly primitive. Original leather binding is in exceptionally sharp, handsome condition, with spine lettering bright.

The British and Foreign Bible Society, 1862. Hardcover. Good. Mid-19th century KJV English Bible printed by George E. Eyre and William Spottiswoode for the British and Foreign Bible Society in 1862. Bound in dark-brown leather with gilt "Holy Bible" to spine panel. Blind rulings and decorative elements to spine, front and back panels. Presumably a personal copy of prominent Seventh Day Adventist leader and pastor and later one of its most outspoken critics D. M. Canright. Inscription on front free endpaper reads: "R Deming Bible | Bought January 24, 1866 | of Elder Canright | Seventh day adventist | Price $3.00". Numerous additional inscriptions on endpapers, likely in Deming's hand. Unpaginated. 6 7/8" x 4 5/8". Tight copy with moderate shelf wear, slightly bumped corners and superficially split hinges (not affecting integrity of binding). Light staining to front pastedown and two preliminary blanks. Cummington: The Cummington Press, 1944. Hardcover. Near fine/very good. 74, [1] pp. Quarter calf over black silver-flecked boards, spine lettered in blind, with the original unprinted jacket. One of three hundred copies printed, illustrated with wood engravings by Gustav Wolf and a textual note by Alfred Y. Fisher. Jacket scuffed and stained with a couple of chips, book slightly rubbed at the head and tail of the spine but overall near fine. An elaborate edition and an early production of the press, the first Cummington book to be chosen by the American Institute of Graphic Arts for its Fifty Books of the Year.
