Dover, Kent: Sheridan Publications, 1958. Softcover. Very Good. Magazine. Octavo. (28)pp. Stapled wrappers. Very good with soiling, spots and touch of sunning to the blue on the front wrap. A magazine distributed in the Latin Quarter in Paris featuring the cover story, "Inside the Beat Hotel" by Verta Kali Smart, which is quite possibly the first published appearance of the nickname given to the famous hotel which became a destination for many Beat Poets, including Alan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Gregory Corso, and William Burroughs, who finished his masterpiece *Naked Lunch* while a resident. This magazine is also likely the first published appearance of over a dozens photos by hotel regular Harold Chapman, who made it his mission to document the people and place, and who later collected them in his 1984 book, which includes a photo of Smart working on *Left Bank This Month*. We sold a copy a decade ago but have otherwise not seen another since and are certain this is the only issue produced despite the volume 2 designation. A truly rare publication from a Beat Hotel resident produced and distributed during the hotel's golden years. *OCLC* locates two copies, with one in The Netherlands.
