1972. Single sheet.. Good. Anthony Gross. Paysage Avec Mante Religieuse) (Herdman 7203; Reynolds 251) Etching signed in plate and in pencil. A Trial Proof printed on a soft wove paper. Signed and titled in pencil by the artist. The sheet has overall light browning and some brown speckling, not so much as foxing, but appears to be from impurities in the paper, plus a light mount stain. (I can send more photos upon request) Herdman states that the plate was later used for a numbered edition of 250 copies, which were sold to Observer Prints, London. There were also 7 Artist’s Proofs.; Plate size 351 x 553mm (13 7/8 x 17 7/8 inches)

A very good impression on antique laid paper with a eagle and snake watermark. My conservator suggested this was 17th century paper.There was light foxing near the number which has been cleaned. (See photo with watermark) Signed and numbered in ink. "The south bank of the Thames, at Bermondsey round the curve of the muddy shore, barges are lying under warehouses. In the foreground, four men are repairing a barge, while another stands on the deck, working a pump." (Hardie).
