About This Item
New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1933. Hardcover. Illustrations by A.C. Valentine. Small 8vo. Blue cloth with black lettering, pictorial dust jacket. vii, 214pp. Two-color frontispiece, two-color pictorial endpapers. Near fine/very good. Jacket mildly edgeworn, with spine faintly sunned. Superlative first edition -- tight, fresh -- of the third title in the 4-title "Adventures in the Unknown" boy's juvenile series (1933-34), described by one series bibliographer as "Almost adult-level science-fiction stories." Rear jacket panel and rear flap list first three titles only. Very, very scarce in this condition. Claudy (1879-1957) was an interesting figure who authored not only sci-fi but also works on aviation, freemasonry, photography (of which he was a noteworthy practitioner) and other topics. HUDSON 3.
