The author presents a comprehensive view of New Mexico's history from the days of the Conquistadores to the arrival of Colonel Doniphan's army in Sante Fe. An interesting discussion of everyday colonial life from a variety of primary sources materials illustrated with drawings and maps. Bound in blue cloth stamped in gilt, spine lettering gilt, endpapers are maps corners lightly bumped, fading to head, in dust jacket which is slightly shorter than book (?) small piece torn away at head, old clear tap mends to folds.
