[Green floral patterned end papers] Red pressed cloth over boards, elaborate floral decoration set in double ruled panel, stamped in both black and gilt, title inside decoration similarly contained and executed. Ditto for the spine, which is quite rubbed. [No statement of edition anywhere in pages prior to text or on cover.] Lalla Rookh is an Oriental romance by Thomas Moore, published in 1817. As a collector one could remain very happily engaged for his or her life collecting this title alone. Dozens and dozens of editions were published prior to this edition, a single volume of a set published as "Moore's Works". Book Condition: Fairly worn, tips turned, spine ends pushed. Enough gilt on the front board so the exquisite design still charms, but not so on the spine. Inside...inside it's a peach, sweet and unread, on very thick paper with a slick orange border on each page, raised, this border. The edges are all gilt and they are super fresh. Tenniel's engravings are great, very bizarre. Previous owner's inscription on ffep written with a fountain pen in a gorgeous Palmer method hand.
