Los Angeles, CA: Laguna Verde Imprenta, 1988. First edition. ONE OF ONLY 50 COPIES PRODUCED & SIGNED BY RITCHIE. A bibliography of Ritchie's own Laguna Verde Press which he established after retiring from commercial printing. It covers 26 books, pamphlets and broadsides produced by the press with descriptions and printed samples from each. As was his convention with his press, the various items are numbered "wr 1" through "wr 26" with this book being his "wr 27" and the errata, which is laid in, "wr 28." The entire edition was set and printed by hand on an 1835 Albion Press by Ritchie himself at the age of 83. In an introductory 10-page essay, Ritchie gives the history of Laguna Verde including how he obtained his printing press and had it installed (he was warned that he'd "have to remove the house first" to get it back out). 4to quarter red leather with red patterned paper boards; title stamped in gilt on leather at front along the spine which is plain; housed in the original black paper-covered slipcase. Fine with 1993 ALS on his Laguna Beach letterhead to collector Allen Mears laid in reading in part, "It was pleasant to see that you have a copy of the Laguna Verde bibliography which is very rare.".

[New York]: Limited Editions Club, (1991). Yuri Kuper. First of this edition. One of 250 numbered copies Illustrated with six original etchings by Yuri Kuper SIGNED by the illustrator on the colophon page, and this copy with each etching signed in pencil by Yuri Kuper -- though not issued as such. One of the smallest limitations of the club. Translated by Mark Rudman. "In Russian poetry, Boris Pasternak's My Sister-Life is the equivalent of The Waste Land, Spring and All, and Harmonium. But it is also accessible to the general reader, and belongs on a slender shelf of great love poems . . . Pasternak is an uncompromisingly complex poetic stylist, and his meticulous attention to structure, etymology, and the phonetic qualities of words makes his poetry a formidable challenge for the translator. Mark Rudman renders Pasternak's poetic masterpiece with verve and intelligence" (from cover of recent Northwestern University edition). Large folio (16 x 23") with gray goatskin spine and treated handmade paper… Read More

He was responsible for publishing thousands of books, including over 750 which were designed by Ward Ritchie himself. After retiring from printing as a career, what did he do but...start his own printing press, the Laguna Verde Press.
