Indianapolis: Bobbs- Merrill, 1910. Book. Illus. by Howard Chandler Christy. Very Good. Decorative Cloth. First Edition. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Green Art- Nouveau floral cloth with gilted tiles to the front, with green rules. Design by Bertha Stuart with her initials stamped at the bottom front corner. Unpaginated. This copy is VG. Exterior is rich , gilt is bright, modest spotting front/back, bottom tips moderately worn ( top ,less so), top and bottom of spine frayed (1/4") , bottom of spine has 3/4" closed tear. Inside has neat gift inscription and a gift card laid in., otherwise unmarked, clear, crisp and tightly bound. Modest/even toning to EPs, almost none to text. Very nice..

Synopsis

The Lady of the Lake marked the pinnacle of Scott's popularity as a poet. With 25,000 copies sold in eight months, it broke all records for the sale of poetry. Known as a romantic poem, it tells about love and honor amidst a bitter rivalry between King James V and the Douglas family. The book is set in the Trossachs region of Scotland and  it is composed of six cantos, each concern the action of a single day.
