About This Item
Boston: Fields, Osgood, & Co., 1870. Stowe knew and admired Anne Isabella Byron (1792-1860) through the anti-slavery movement, and felt her to be ill-served by history; in this book she revealled Lord Byron's supposed incest with his half-sister. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Publisher's maroon cloth binding, ruled, with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 482 pages, exceptionally bright and supple. The corners are mildly bumped, with some minor rubbling at margins; the spine has faded to brown but the gilt lettering is still bright. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
