Cincinnati: L. Swormstedt and J. H. Power, 1851. Hardcover. Good. Three-quarter bound. Previous owner's name and date, 1851, beautifully calligraphed to FFEP. Significant foxing and acid-transfer to endpapers and text. Open and closed tears to occasional page. One latter page, barely attached. Moderately scuffed and worn board surfaces and edges. A 5" loose edge to front cloth binding at leather spine. Corners bumped. Gilt lettering debossed to spine. Four raised, gilt edged, ribs to spine. Binding is still in solid shape for being 163 years old. Cameo of Rev. B. F Tefft to half-title page. Many black and white plates, some with tissue overlay. Clean text, solid binding. 476 pp. This monthly periodical was produced by members of the Methodist Episcopal church from 1841 to 1876. A collection of poetry, musical pieces, inspirational stories, biographical pieces, art, numerous full-page black and white plates. Twelve issues, January through December, 1851.
