Cincinnati: L. Swormstedt and A. Poe, 1857. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. 12 issues (January-December, 1857) bound in one volume. Illustrated with an engraved title page and numerous mezzotint and stipple engraved plates. Very good in contemporary brown quarter calf and publisher's cloth boards, gilt spine titles, raised bands; with the binding detached along the inner hinges, corners gently bumped. The text pages and plates are clean, bright and tight with a few scattered light stains. A nice copy of this celebrated literary journal of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which includes some very fine stipple and mezzotint engravings.
