Paris - Michel Levy Freres, 1863 Book. Good. Hardcover. A scarce early edition of Sand's romantic French novel, The Snowman. Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin was best known by her pseudonym, George Sand and was a French Novelist and memoirist, remembered for her affairs with Frederic Chopin and Alfred de Musset as much as her work. Sand actively supported the February revolution of 1848 as a radical left-wing supporter, but the events of the June Day uprising shattered her Utopian illusions and her work reflected that, returning to the romantic spirit of her earlier work. The Snowman is part of her later romantic work, along with Jean de la Roche. This contains second and third volume of a three volume set. Condition: In a half calf binding. Externally, sound with some rubbing to boards and bumping to corners and head and tail of spines. Internally, firmly bound with scattered light spotting throughout. Overall: GOOD..
