By the Author on the Half Title Page. xviii, 267 pp.,; 12 pages of plates, 10 maps, 3 appendices (nominal roll, honours and awards, casualties), index; there are two inscriptions on the half title page; 1 from Kevin Crowley -- Chairman of the Battalion Association History Subcommittee, and 2 from Vic Austin the author. The 39th Australian Infantry Battalion existed as a unit for only 20 months of World War II, but its story is one of the most unusual and proudest in the annals of Australian military history. Light bumping off the head and tail of the backstrip, rubbing of the dust jacket around the head of the backstrip section. Slight dustiness to the page edges, otherwise a very nice copy.
