Dust jacket has patch peeled on the front flap with chipping and tears, label stain and scuffing on the spine, wrinkling, chipping, crease and few tears on the edges, sides and corners, scattered stains and scratches, light discoloration and shelf wear. Book has library markings (labels, stamping, cardholder, etc.), cocked, lightly loose hinge, bumped corners and cover edgewear, tape residue and stains on the cover with some label stains, tape stains on the free endpapers, a few writing on pages 154-155, water soiled patches on the bottom of the inside pages, some scattered stains, wrinkling and crease, light discoloration and shelf wear. Ian Rankin creates a vivid picture of Edinburgh's seedy side in a novel that captures the grittiness and soul of the old town. 8.5"x5.75", 182 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed.. Signed by Author. Synopsis

Knots and Crosses is a 1987 crime novel by Ian Rankin. It is the first of the Inspector Rebus novels. It was written while Rankin was a postgraduate student at the University of Edinburgh. In the introduction to this novel, Rankin states that Rebus lives directly opposite the window in Marchmont that he looked out of while writing the book.
