About This Item
New York: William Morrow & Co., 1992. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. The 44th novel in the award-winning McBain's 87th Precinct series, which set the standard for police procedural mystery novels. "Kiss" features Emma Bowles, wife of a successful businessman, who, after two near-fatal accidents, believes someone is trying to kill her even though her husband has hired her a bodyguard. First edition, first printing (with complete numberline). About 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches, 351 pages bound in cream-color, paper-covered boards with red backstrip and gold lettering on spine. The front panel of the pictorial dustjacket shows a color illustration of a subway station with subway train in background, and with author's name in white and title in red. Back panel of dj has full- panel black & white photo of McBain. Boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked, without noticeable flaws or damage. Dustjacket is in same condition. Dj is not price-clipped and is now in Brodart protector. A collectable copy. (It is interesting to note that "Ed McBain" is a pen name used by Evan Hunter and that the author legally changed his name to "Evan Hunter" from Salvatore Lombino in 1952 not too long before his "Blackboard Jungle" became a bestseller.
