Frederick Muller Limited, London, 1963. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. 390 g.; IV, 5-272 pages, last four pages blank, intentionally, list of illustrations. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, of author. The text is illustrated with 13 other black-and-white photographs throughout the text. Purple coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Pale red coloured tint to the top text block edge. Rubbing to the book corners and to the book panels. Browning and foxing to the text block edge. A few spots to the endpapers and light age toning to the internal text. Illustrated dustwrapper, by Eisner, with black, purple and white titles to the front panel and black and white titles to the front panel. Rubbing and some chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. A little rubbing to the dustwrapper panels and there has been handling marks and a yellowing to the rear dustwrapper panel. There is a small, 0.25 ", tear to the top edge of the front dustwrapper panel with have associated creasing. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. The story of the author, who was born in (then known as] British Guiana but was educated both in America and in England. This is the story of his return to his native land and to the then emerging new nations of Africa. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Dust Jacket price-clipped.
