WINNER OF THE 1975 PULITZER PRIZE FOR FICTION.
It took Shaara seven years to write this novel and submission to 16 publishers before it was accepted. The book received little attention at first, perhaps due to the Viet Nam backlash against any mention of war. Even after winning the Pulitzer little was made of the book until the movie was made using Killer Angels as its basis. Now the book is recognized as one of few highly acclaimed Civil War novels.
Not a rare book, but expensive in the first printing. Many copies over $1500 on the internet.

Synopsis
The Killer Angels is a historical novel by Michael Shaara that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1975. The book tells the story of four days of the Battle of Gettysburg in the American Civil War: June 30, 1863, as the troops of both the Union and the Confederacy move into battle around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and July 1, July 2, and July 3, when the battle was fought. The story is character driven and told from the perspective of various protagonists.
Reviews
On Mar 26 2017, a reader said:
Brilliant depiction of various characters, from the historically pre-eminent (Lee, Chamberlain) to the minor (Spy) to the fictional participants at Gettysburg. Provides a psychological profile of those who made this hallowed ground.
