San Francisco: Straight Arrow, 1973. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/near fine. First printing (stated). Hardcover. Fine (light rem. stripe inner bottom edge) in near fine dust jacket. 419 pp. In depth biography of Jack Kerouac authored by one who knew him personally. Charters first met the "On The Road" author at one of his earliest San Franciso poetry readings; later he helped her compile his formal bibliography. She edited a collection of his poems and also compiled a more recent photo an dpoetry album. Since Kerouac's death in 1969. Charters consulted closely with his surviving peers--particularly Allan Ginsburg himself--exhaustively researching every aspect of his work and life.
